Growing up in a rural agriculture community in Ohio, 4-H and farming was my primary focus until I turned 16 when I was bit by the golf bug.  Shortly thereafter, I started working on a local course so that I could get the benefit of free golf.  Following graduation, I attended Akron University and earnedmy Bachelor of Science degree in Business Finance.  My passion still remained with golf and the great outdoors which led me to continue my education at The Ohio State University where I received my Turfgrass Management Degree.

Once finished with college, I moved to South Florida and worked at many top notched golf facilities throughout Palm Beach County, Florida.  I had the privilege of working on many staffs that hosted mini tour events, PGA tour events and hosted a PGA Tour Champions Major Championship. Working as a golf course superintendent taught me the importance of being a team player while still being a strong leader to produce the highest quality results for our members.  Fast forward and now eighteen years in sales, I enjoy helping supply products to meet the needs of other turfgrass managers. I’ve been in their shoes and understand firsthand the challenges they face.  To work with integrity and provide each of my clients with professionalism along with my honest support is my principal goal. I look forward to providing these same qualities and positive solutions to all my AQUA-AID Solutions clientele.

Most of my free time now consists of my faith, family, and friends.  I am blessed with my little piece of paradise in the foothills of Walling, TN.  This is where my wife, 3 kids, and I enjoy hiking, kayaking, golfing, and entertaining guests around our farmhouse firepit retreat.  It’s the simple things in life that bring me joy and where you can usually find me when I’m not in the office.

I started in the Turf Industry 43 years ago, but took a 9-year departure to care for my mother and re-entered the industry January 2018.  I began my career with the typical superintendent route, but early on I moved from superintendent to sales.  I was fortunate to start my sales career in the ProTurf division of The Scotts Company.  They gave me the training and foundation of not just selling product; but listening to a customer’s need and providing a solution.  Over the years I have been blessed to be involved with world-class companies – Kurtz Bros., IMC Vigoro, Profile Products and now AQUA-AID.  At each of these companies I was involved in the establishment or expansion of either a new business unit, geographic expansion, or technology.  I have a fondness for the physical properties of soil and would like to think I have been able to add value to my customers by helping them have a greater understanding of the what’s and why’s of their soils.    I was attracted to the industry when I started working at Nemacolin Country Club when I was 13 and worked there through High School.  I went to college with no intentions of going into the turf industry, but after spending my first year inside, I knew I didn’t want to be on the inside looking out.  Fortunately, I was already attending Penn State and was able to transfer into the Turfgrass program. I was lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time.  On Saturday mornings before I get started with Mrs. Stimmel’s list, I attend the 6:00 AM Washington Chapter of the Romeo Club (R.O.M.E.O – Retired Old Men Eating Out) for breakfast and conversation.  It is a great group of local business men (retired and active) that share their perspective and wisdom.  I tease them and named it the Romeo Club since I am the only one not collecting Social Security. All kidding aside, the time is enjoyable and informative.  One thing that people may not know about me is that I am the youngest person ever elected President of The Ohio Turf Foundation at the age of 30.  The legacy I want to leave is one of making a difference or adding value to the people I have been fortunate enough to meet throughout my years in the turf industry. While this is important, the impact and influence I make on my daughter, Emily, and son, Tom, is what really matters the most.
