Graduating with a degree in Chemistry in 1970 proved to be too confining for me. Encouraged by John Strickland of Egypt Farms in Maryland, I returned to the outdoors to join Dad’s new venture of supplying kiln dried soils to the turf industry.
I started in the turf industry in 1991 as a field manager at Virginia Tech University while attending college. I chose to intern at Harbor Town Golf Links in Hilton Head Island SC in the early 90’s
As a Daddy’s girl, I heard many stories ranging from building golf greens to dealing with bad water. My interest in the turf industry stemmed from wanting to be like Dad.
I started in the Turf Industry 43 years ago, but took a 9-year departure to care for my mother and re-entered the industry January 2018. I began my career with the typical superintendent route, but early on I moved from superintendent to sales.
This year will be my 40thyear in the Turf Industry. I got my first job on a golf course in San Angelo, TX in 1978, and I loved it so much that I decided to make a career in the golf business.
For the last 33 years I have had many roles in the Turf Industry. I was a Caddie Crew member, an Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent, Director of Agronomy, and now I manage and support distributors for AQUA-AID.
Throughout my 25 years in the industry I have strived to take that next step. I believe my foundation was a strong one, with mentors pressing upon strong agronomics and business acumen.
I have been in the turf industry for 15 years with my primary role as the Operations Manager for AQUA-AID where I have been involved in all day to day operations including shipping, international logistics, and governmental regulations.
After spending most of my life on athletic fields, working in the Turf Industry was an easy transition. I have been in the packaging and distribution side of the industry since 2003.
I have been involved in the Turf Industry for 12 years in the role of office support. What attracted me to this industry was working with Bill and Jennifer in the day to day office administration.
I began my time in the accounting side of the turf industry in 2013 after being involved in tax preparation after college and then 12 years as a stay at home mom to my three children.
I have been in the Turf Industry for about 11 years. Six of those years were spent coaching college baseball and being responsible for the athletic fields at Louisburg College and Campbell University.
I have either repaired or improved equipment all my life. The challenge to “make it better” keeps me going. My early job was repairing mowers and that evolved into heavy equipment.
I have been in the Turf Industry for a little over 2 years as a Packaging Specialist. The work environment at AQUA-AID is what attracted me to the industry.
